Meta is Hiring an Energy Analyst (Data) Near Boston, MA

Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates to deliver our innovative services. Meta is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and self-motivated individual to help build the data foundation, use it to perform advanced energy analytics, and produce scalable analytic tools for our growing fleet of data centers and clean energy portfolio. In this role, you will be a key contributor to Meta’s data center energy management and strategy. Your responsibilities will include integrating multiple data sources to build a unified energy data foundation, applying the data foundation to support the creation of scalable analytical tools, performing sensitivity and scenario analysis to unpack portfolio risks, and working with cross-functional partners to integrate energy, renewable, and sustainability data for advanced analytics and reporting. Additionally, you will help drive the development and deployment of Meta’s global energy strategy in an effort to create a cost competitive clean energy-based supply portfolio that meets the company’s overall objectives. You will be expected to become an expert on Meta's energy data infrastructure, building the single-source-of-truth, utilizing the data infrastructure to produce scalable tools, and performing advanced energy analytics. In this role, you will be closely collaborating with energy analysts, the renewable energy team, data engineers and data scientists. This is a full-time role. Strong energy background, superb data skills with SQL and Python, excellent communication and presentation skills are a must.

Energy Analyst (Data) Responsibilities:
  • Serve as an expert on Meta's energy and renewable data foundation, responsible for integrating multiple data sources to create a single-source-of-truth database
  • Conceptualize and own the data architecture on behalf of the global energy team in collaboration with data science and engineering teams
  • Apply the data foundation to support various analytical workstreams to inform Meta’s energy usage and renewable strategy in key US and European energy markets
  • Shepard the design, build, and launch collections of sophisticated data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across different products or domains
  • Engage with multiple stakeholders to further integrate energy data within Meta's data infrastructure and create scalable tooling to support growth
  • Create advanced analytical models to forecast energy usage and cost, and dissect market risks, either by collaboration or individual work
  • Support the delivery of monthly and annual summaries of key energy metrics to the Global Energy team and internal stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field, finance or business discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of relevant work experience using data analytics to answer energy and electricity market questions.
  • Experience applying quantitative methodologies to analyze the energy market risks and opportunities.
  • Experience collaborating with data engineers and data scientists and building productive cross-functional relationships.
  • Hands-on experience analyzing and interpreting energy usage data, electric tariffs, wholesale energy market data, and renewable energy data.
  • Experience in managing multiple work streams concurrently and prioritize workflows.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with electric utilities, large energy consumers, energy service providers or consultancies.
  • Experience with Tableau or other data visualization software.
  • Previous experience with data center energy analytics.
  • Advanced data skills such as ETL.
  • Advanced database management skills using SQL and/or experience manipulating data using programing language such as Python, and/or experience using large data sets to build data models.
